If You Build a Website, Will They Come?

Probably not. People seem to think that the internet is this magical place where you put something up and visitors come in droves overnight. Not so. Yes, you can definitely give your MLM business a boost by having an online presence. But building a blog or creating a website alone is not enough. That’s like starting a brick and mortar business, hanging a "Grand Opening" sign out front, and expecting customers to flock in. What’s missing? Marketing. Marketing will make the difference between failure and success... in any business. Yes, you still need a great product at a great price and a way to distribute the product to the customer. But product, price, and distribution alone won’t create success. You need to advertise your business. Some MLM’ers don’t understand that an MLM business is still a business. And every business needs marketing to create awareness that they exist within their target market. So how do you do MLM marketing? We’ve talked before about the advantages of doing online MLM marketing because you gain access to millions of prospects. So creating a website or starting a blog is a great first step, but it’s not enough. Your next step is to develop your MLM marketing plan. Your marketing plan should describe your target market, marketing strategy and marketing budget. Budget? There’s always a trade-off between time and money. If you have no budget, then it will take longer to see the results you desire. Spending some money on advertising will speed the growth of your business. Your marketing strategy is the actions you will take to best utilize your budget. Since we’re using attraction marketing, you need to find ways to position yourself where prospects can find you. Translation: drive prospects (traffic) to your website/blog. What are you advertising? Not your product, company founders, or comp plan. You need to establish and brand yourself as a solutions provider, so you are branding YOU. If you have a blog, you can simply write new entries regularly that solve problems your prospects have. Do not sell... your goal as an attractive marketer is to provide valuable information. When you use keywords in
your title and article, prospects will find your article through organic search. So write articles around high search keywords. This will bring in free traffic to your blog. It’s free, but it’s slower. You can also post articles on free content sharing sites. Prospects who are searching on the keywords you used will find your article. If you have done a good job of solving their problem, they will wonder what else you’ve written. So be sure to include a link to a sales page on your website. As we talked about earlier, driving free traffic can be a slow process. If you want to speed up that process, then I recommend spending some money. Another way to drive more traffic to your blog/website quickly is to write articles and submit them to an article directory or submission service. This is quite inexpensive. Yes, you could search the web for newsletters, ezine publishers, bloggers and others that want good quality content. But that’s time-consuming and a lot of work. Some of them want the article formatted in specific ways, etc. There are just too many rules to keep up with. When you submit your article through an article directory, they handle all the formatting and then submit your article to thousands of publishers who are hungry for good content to share with their readers. So with the click of a button your article can be in front of hundreds of thousands of readers. How do you benefit from writing articles? You get to include an "About the Author" box at the bottom of your article with links back to your website and/or sales page. If you have done a good job of providing solutions, then pre-sold prospects will click those links to find out more about you. The other benefit is that those articles sit on the internet and can drive traffic to your website for months or years. I need to warn you though, one article won’t accomplish your goal of driving 100-500 visitors/day to your website. Start out by writing 1 article per day for 10 days. Then submit 2-3 articles per week for the remainder of the month. This should really jump start your traffic... and sales! My #1 MLM marketing strategy is article marketing to drive pre-sold leads to your website.
